The Inaugural 2009 Hanslope Pantomime Horse Trials & Fun Day was held on Sunday 4th October at Milton Keynes Eventing Centre, in Hanslope and opened by Euan Henderson, the Mayor of Milton Keynes. The event was organised by Hanslope Pre School and Hanslope 326 After School Club in aid of the Hanslope Children’s Centre Project.
Each panto horse race saw teams of four, all wearing panto horse costumes, racing around a gently winding course whilst negotiating small horse jumps. In addition to panto horse races and ‘clear rounds’, the activities included a children’s hobby horse and costume parade, an egg throwing championship, Irish dancing displays, a bouncy castle, beautiful face painting, a raffle, a cake sale and various side-show stalls.
The sun shone, a fun day was had by all and we raised a considerable amount of money for the Children’s Centre (final accounting is still underway). The organisers would like to thank everyone who attended the event and all those who helped, from putting up and taking down several large marquees to serving refreshments and staffing side shows and many other things besides.
There was fantastic community spirit in support of a very worthwhile project which aims to bring the Pre School and the After School club together in a purpose-built building on the site of Hanslope Primary School.
NEW: Photographs from the Pantomime Horse Trials taken by Ben Gregory-Ring, our photographer, are available to view in Photobox (please contact us for the password). All proceeds from the sale of these images will go to the Children’s Centre building fund.
We hope to run a similar event in 2010. If you would be interested in supporting it then please get in touch. Our rates are reasonable and benefits considerable! Please see our Sponsorship Options for further information.
